RE:QUEST

Collaboration with Morehshin Allahyari

In Re:quest, life-size parts of Allahyari’s body were printed by means of a 3-D printer in a middle of ArtCube gallery in Jerusalem, since she is not able to physically enter Israel.

Visitors to the exhibition were invited to take a test that is an absurd and poetic take on recruiting tests for elite security or intelligence forces. Those who successfully passed the test became"agents" in the service of Allahyari, and each received a part of her body that they were asked to document in a site embedded with personal, emotional, or national meaning. The documentation was posted online in real time, so that Allahyari could follow her body parts and their journey. The agents all came together for a ceremony dedicated to the reassembly of the body, which took place prior to the closing of the exhibition.
